Round Review helps you track your golf game from a few spoken words. We collect only what we need to do that — and nothing to advertise to you, profile you, or sell.
Who we are
Round Review (“we,” “us”) is a golf-tracking app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what data the app and its backend collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Round Review app and to this website.
Information we collect
We collect the following, all tied to your account and all used to provide the app's features:
- Account identity. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and an email address (which may be Apple's private relay address) along with a stable user identifier. We use these to create your account and sync your data across your devices.
- Location. During a round, the app uses your precise GPS location to find nearby courses and to mark where your shots come to rest, so it can chart your game. Location is collected only while you're using the app (including briefly in the background during an active round so a single tap can mark your ball). We never use location to track or advertise to you.
- Your golf content. The rounds, holes, scores, clubs, shot positions, and the words you use to describe your shots and how they felt. This is the data the app exists to keep for you.
- Voice recordings and transcripts. When you use a voice feature (per-shot capture on the watch, between-hole capture, or the post-round walkthrough), your microphone audio is sent to our voice provider to transcribe what you said and power the conversational agent. We and that provider retain the recordings and transcripts, and we may review them — including by hand — to measure and improve how accurately the app turns speech into shot data. We don't use them for advertising.
- Scorecard photos. If you photograph a paper scorecard, the image is sent to our AI provider to read the scores from it. We may retain scorecard images and review them to improve the accuracy of the scan feature.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment; we use RevenueCat to validate the purchase and track whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment-card details.
- Product usage. We use PostHog, a product-analytics tool, to record usage events in the app (screen views and round, shot, and subscription actions, tied to your user identifier) and basic analytics on this website (page views, and which version of the landing page you saw when you joined the list), so we can see what works and improve the product. This is first-party analytics only — never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Basic technical data. Our servers log standard request information (such as IP address and timestamps) to keep the service running, secure, and debuggable.
We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The product analytics described above (PostHog) are first-party and used solely to operate and improve Round Review.
How we use your information
- To provide the core features: tracking shots, charting your game, computing stats, and powering the voice coach.
- To sync your rounds securely across your iPhone and Apple Watch.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the app.
- To develop, evaluate, and improve the Service and its AI features — including reviewing real examples of usage (such as voice recordings, transcripts, scorecard photos, and round data, sometimes by hand) to make our shot placement, transcription, and stats more accurate.
- To manage your subscription.
We rely on these uses to deliver and improve the service you asked for. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Service providers we share with
We share data with a small set of providers only so they can perform a function on our behalf. They are bound to use it solely for that purpose.
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions, app delivery | Account identity, subscription status |
| ElevenLabs | Speech-to-text and the conversational voice agent; retains voice recordings and transcripts | Voice audio and transcripts |
| Anthropic | Turning your descriptions into structured shot data, reading scorecards, and round analysis | Shot descriptions, scorecard photos, round data |
| OpenRouter | Routing requests to the AI models that turn your descriptions into structured data | Shot descriptions and round data |
| RevenueCat | Subscription and entitlement management | Subscription status, purchase history, your user identifier |
| PostHog | First-party product & website analytics to improve the product | App usage events, website page views, your user identifier |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to meet legal obligations. You can delete your account from within the app at any time; doing so permanently removes your rounds and associated personal data from our systems (backups are purged on a rolling basis). You can also delete individual rounds whenever you like.
We may keep de-identified or aggregated data — for example, examples used to evaluate and improve our AI features — which no longer identifies you, after your account is deleted. Where our service providers hold copies of your data, we delete them, or instruct their deletion, in line with their processes.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on access-controlled infrastructure. Requests to our AI features are authenticated to confirm they come from the genuine app. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Round Review is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Control location access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Use the app without voice features if you prefer not to share audio.
- Delete individual rounds, or your entire account, from within the app.
- Contact us to access or delete your personal data.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability). Contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
